Shoot 2 Work Record

Work Record

Plans for shoot
In this shoot I plan to go to a football training session and capture the different activities that are involved in a training session.

What I hope to achieve
In my photographs that I take during this shoot I hope to capture my images like a story, show the steps that follow in a training session.

What I have achieved

To capture this photograph I used the aperture priority setting on the camera because I wanted to focus on the amount of light that went into the picture. As you can see from the screenshot of the shot information there was a high aperture of 4.0, this shows that there was a high amount of light that was let into the image. I wanted to increase the amount of light in this image because it was raining and the sky was dark which made the images turn out less brighter than I had hoped. Before shooting for this shoot I experimented with the camera setting to see which one would complement my images well. I achieved the image that I wanted to because I wanted this shoot to tell a story and this image is almost like the beginning of the story. It shows a man, the manager of the team, reading a piece of paper which shows the activities that he is going to be doing during the training session. Although the sky looks grey and dull I think it almost complements this image because the dullness is hovering over his head which gives him some importance as he is the manager of the team. The boys playing football in the background also add effect to this image because it symbolises what is going to happen in the shoot because if we just had the man in the image we wouldn't understand who he was and why he was there. Everything in the background is slightly blurred showing no real depth of field but it does give importance to the man.

To capture this image we can see from the screenshot that I used a higher aperture priority which let in more light. I wanted to let in more light on this picture because I wanted the colours of the clothes he is wearing to be more visible and vibrant. I also used a higher shutter speed when taking this image because unlike the image before the boy is not stationary he was moving around so to be able to capture this image I had to use a higher shutter speed so there wouldn't be a motion blur visible in this image as that wasn't what I wanted. I am happy with what I captured in this image because it adds on to the story I am trying to get across in my shoot. Here we have a boy playing football, following on from the image before because it shows them actually performing the drills that the manager has prepared. In this image the sky also looks grey and dull but because of the settings I have used we are refrained from looking at the dullness as the colour red displayed on his clothes draws our attention away from it. The main focus of this image is the boy and it is clearly shown in this image because he is bright and vibrant which immediately grabs our attention. Everything going on in the background is blurred which shows that there isn't a great deal of depth of field but the blurriness complements the image because it adds significance to the boy and what he is doing.

What am I going to do next
If I was going to carry on with this shoot and photograph more images of these boys playing football I would maybe check the weather before I shoot outside. Although, the weather in this shoot didn't effect it majorly I think the images may have turned out better if there was a brighter sky and atmosphere.
